Derry Engineering was founded by Dan Derry Pienaar in August 1989 in Wadeville, Germiston, Gauteng, South Africa. Its primary objective, was to supply a quality product at a competitive price and good service, which exceeded the quality of the OEM product to the Mining Industry.

With the best technology available and its human resources Derry Engineering is the market leader in manufacturing Valve Gear for Rock Drills in South Africa, with a minimum of six (6) months stock at any given time on its shelves.. Derry supplies the largest rock drill manufacturer and also sells components as spare parts to large mining companies.

Derry Engineering thrives to becomes the leading black-empowered one-stop-shop manufacturer of engineering products for the mining industry in Africa.

Marc Cocci
General Manager

Marc joined the company in 2007 as operations manager. Marc has 15 years’ experience in CNC machining. Studied Aeronautical Engineering at Vaal Triangle Technical College. He completed his practical training at Daltron Engineering in 2000. Completed 2 CNC programming courses, Level 3 Tooling course, Level 3 MasterCam Design, Draughting and CAD/CAM Programming course. Responsible for improving profitability and efficiencies within the factory and Introduced many revolutionary processes and technologies within Derry Engineering. Promoted to Operations Manager in 2010. Responsible for planning and overseeing production, plant and equipment. Dealing with all Staff, sourcing and managing all suppliers and customers. In 2014 he was promoted to General Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the entire operation at Derry Engineering, sweating the assets and constantly assessing company’s position in the market. Marc’s innovative thinking and lean manufacturing background promotes continuous improvement allows for making quick calculated decisions, keeping the company one step ahead of the competition.

Nicholas Gaston
Financial Manager

Nicholas joined the company in 2014. Nicholas received his B.Comm Accounting degree in 2003 and his B.Comm Honours Financial Management degree in 2004 both from University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then he has completed an Import management course with the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also a Financial Analysis and Forecasting Master Class with the Melrose Advanced professional training college. Nicholas began his career straight out of university at a fast moving consumer goods company, where he was employed as the Cost Accountant from 2005 – 2008. He then joined an engineering company which serviced the paper industry and was employed as the Financial Account from end October 2008 to March 2014. Nicholas is a driven individual ready to use his accounts and finance skills and experience to take the performance the company to new heights.

Derry Engineering is also a supplier to key stakeholders of Rock Drills in South Africa and Africa and also manufactures for various sectors in the Motor and Construction Industries.
